Job Description

Within this role you will be the Subject Matter Expert for the Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Dynamics Portal based researcher management system.

You'll be someone that is passionate about providing great service with the ability to; provide bug fixes, remote support and guidance to end users and look at ongoing trends and resolutions. You'll be given the opportunity to progress your career within a fast paced and constantly evolving environment where no 2 days are ever the same.

In this role, you will take responsibility for technical support and project manage third party developers to help improve the systems UX and process automation within the Research Tribe.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Providing the technical expertise on Microsoft Dynamics, working closely with colleagues in relevant functions.
  • Ensuring that the users have the correct Security roles & Business unit to enable them to work securely effectively and efficiently.
  • Ensuring that systems are delivered with Privacy, Security and Service Management principles baked into the design.
  • Creating, maintaining, and improving new Business Process Flows, Power apps, Power automate, Dashboards, Reports and Solution management.
  • Supporting the Research Tribe by working with the business to understand requirements and how solutions can be effectively delivered in a timely fashion.
  • Communicating highly complex technical issues and sensitive information to a variety of stakeholders up to Director level.
  • Knowing and understanding the meaning behind our virtues of Empathy, Integrity, Focus, Connection, Speed, Curiosity, Impact and embody them in all aspects of your role.

Essential skills:

  • Extensive, demonstrable experience of using technology and tools, specifically Microsoft Dynamics, effectively in managing applications and operations areas.
  • In-depth experience of supporting and developing Microsoft Dynamics, with an understanding of end-to-end solution development deployment and testing.


There are no specific qualifications required for this role but any of the following would be advantageous:

  • Prince2 Foundation or Practitioner.
  • Management/Expert Certificate in Service Management V2/3 (or equivalent experience).

Genomics England operate a blended working model, as we know our people appreciate the flexibility. We expect most people to come into the office 2 times each month as a minimum. However, this will vary according to role and will be agreed with your team leader. For some people this is 1 day a quarter, for others it is several days a week. There is no expectation that staff will return to the office full time unless they want to. The exception would be some of our roles that would require you to be on site full time e.g., lab teams, reception team.

Our teams and squads have, and will continue to, reflect on what works best for them to work together successfully and have the freedom to design working patterns to suit, beyond the minimum. Our office locations at the moment are Cambridge and Farringdon (London) and in Autumn 2022 we are relocating our London office location to Canary Wharf. We will also be expanding our regional offices.

Looking ahead to our move to Canary Wharf, we will be designing our new space with blended working in mind, and with the flexibility to adapt to changing work patterns. During the pandemic we will be following government advice on working from home guidance.
