Dr Jane Chudleigh

Jane Chudleigh is a nurse academic and researcher at King’s College London with over 17 years' experience leading research in newborn and genomic screening. Her work focuses on screening policy, implementation, stakeholder engagement, and the communication of screening results to families, with the aim of improving screening programmes and family experiences through evidence-based practice.

Jane has led several nationally significant studies funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) and the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC), including research that informed the Generation Study. Jane has secured over £1 million in research funding, publishing more than 30 peer-reviewed papers in the field. Jane is currently leading the evaluation of the proposed introduction of SCID into the UK newborn screening programme and is part of the team undertaking the spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) in service evaluation. 

Jane serves on the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Neonatal Screening and contributes to several NHS England newborn screening groups. As Co-Lead of the Genomics England Predisposition and Screening Community, she is committed to fostering collaboration across research, policy, clinical practice, and public engagement to support the equitable implementation of genomics and improve population health outcomes.
