We turn science into healthcare – for everyone
Working at Genomics England gives you an opportunity to make your mark in a progressive organisation, to contribute to challenging initiatives and deliver real results that will transform the NHS and genomic healthcare for the benefit of patients.
We have a real commitment to learning and developing and helping colleagues achieve their potential.
Our versatility reflects the diversity of those we serve. Our drive reflects our belief in what we do: genomic research for a real and lasting difference in patients’ lives. And our people make it all possible.
Training and development
We want you to continue to grow. You'll receive £500 (pro rata for time in role) for individual learning every year, contributions to academic or professional enhancements, as well as help creating a development plan to achieve your goals.
We operate a blended working model (see more details in the next section), allowing teams to agree and decide when and where they meet. Currently, we expect team members come to the office a minimum of 2 days per month.
30 days holiday
We understand the importance of holidays – on your health, your relationships, and more. That’s why we go beyond the UK’s basic entitlement of 20 days per year.
We insist on promoting a healthy work/life balance with flexible working and other perks.
One of our core benefits is our pension contribution, which goes directly into your individual pension scheme.
We hold 'Wellbeing Wednesdays' and offer all employees access to the Headspace and Blinkist apps as well as passes to local gyms.
More about our blended working model
We know our people appreciate flexibility, so we expect most people to come into the office 2 times each month as a minimum. However, this will vary according to role and will be agreed with your team leader. For some people this is 1 day a quarter, for others it is several days a week. There is no expectation that staff will return to the office full time unless they want to. The exception would be roles that require you to be on site full time e.g., lab teams, reception team.
Our teams and squads have, and will continue to, reflect on what works best for them to work together successfully and have the freedom to design working patterns to suit, beyond the minimum. Our office locations at the moment are Cambridge and Farringdon (London) and in Summer 2022 we are relocating our London office location to Canary Wharf. We will also be expanding our regional offices.
Looking ahead to our move to Canary Wharf, we will be designing our new space with blended working in mind, and with the flexibility to adapt to changing work patterns. During the pandemic we will be following government advice on working from home guidance.
