Hazel Attua

Participant Panel Member

Hazel Attua is a passionate ambassador for equitable healthcare and genomic research, driven by her lived experience of Sickle Cell Anaemia. Her journey began through active involvement with the Genomics England Patient Voice Group, Advisory Board, and Priority Setting Partnership Panel, where she championed the voices of underrepresented communities and highlighted the urgent need for inclusive research practices. 

From November 2024 to September 2025, she later joined organisation as a Research Participation and Involvement Manager on the Diverse Data Programme, focusing on improving Black health Outcomes (IBHO) through greater representation in genomic research. Her work centred on building trust, increasing participation, and ensuring diverse communities could benefit from advancements in precision medicine. 

Now serving on the Participant Panel, Hazel remains committed to advancing equitable genomic research that has the power to transform future treatments, improve healthcare care, and ultimately contribute towards life-changing cures at early stages for generations to come.
