Ryan Turner

Ryan Turner is a medical student at University College London (UCL) Medical School, where he is integrating a PhD into his medical studies through UCL's MB PhD Programme, supported by the Lachmann Fellowship. He previously completed an intercalated BSc in Surgical Sciences and his first year of clinical training at the Royal Free Hospital in London.

Ryan is currently completing his PhD in the Paediatric Neuropathology Research Group at the UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health, where he uses whole-genome sequencing and bioinformatics to investigate the determinants of lymphocyte infiltration in paediatric solid tumours, with a particular focus on central nervous system tumours. His research integrates clinical and genomic data to improve our understanding of tumour biology and cancer–immune interactions, with the aim of informing future approaches to patient care.

Ryan is an active member of the Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) Working Group at Genomics England. He will now help co-lead the Implementation and Data Enhancement Community, which will support the effective integration of whole-genome sequencing into the NHS.
