Catherine Byers

Catherine joined Genomics England in 2020 to lead the finance, procurement, estates and quality functions at GEL. She has worked closely with the rest of the senior team to deliver on our new strategy and to transform and grow the company, including our relocation to Canary Wharf. She has built our performance, planning, strategic finance and health economics teams and delivered 4 successful spending reviews to fund our NHS-facing services, our research environment and our innovation programmes. 

Before joining Genomics England, Catherine worked in Government for 16 years in the Department of Health and Social Care, the Office for Lifesciences, Cabinet Office and with No10. She brings a wealth of expertise in government finance, policy, programme management, governance and stakeholder management.   

Catherine lives in Essex with her husband and 3 children and spends her spare time going for long walks in Epping Forest and cooking for family and friends.
