Chris Schonewald
Chief of Staff and Director of StrategyChris joined Genomics England in 2020 following 5 years in the Civil Service. He has held roles at Cabinet Office, and the Department of Health and Social Care, serving as Private Secretary to the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care for the Rt Hon Jeremy Hunt MP, and subsequently Rt Hon Matt Hancock MP, before becoming a Senior Policy Adviser in the Technology Directorate.
As Chief of Staff and Director of Strategy, Chris’ remit ranges from advising on day-to-day operations, including implementation, communications, finances, and people, as well as looking forward to what role Genomics England will play in the future.
Chris lives in South London where he can often be found running around Brockwell Park.
