Dave McCormick

Participant Panel member

Dave has been a member of the UK 100,000 Genomes Project Patient Participant Panel since December 2017 representing the interests of project participants. He joined the project in March 2017 to try and find some answers as to why his rare genetic eye disease was deteriorating and what this might mean for him and his family.

Dave has many years’ experience of living with deteriorating vision and he uses these to inform his work as a Lay Patient Representative / Trainer supporting students attending the University of Manchester’s MSc in Genomic Sciences course. He brings strategic planning and policy advice (covering careers guidance, special educational needs, transitions into adult life and employment) plus project management and disability and equality trainer skills through a career in consultancy, local authorities and the Civil Service. In addition to being a member of the Participant Panel, Dave is also a Participant Panel representative on the Research Network Committee.
