Dr Aylwyn Scally

Population Genomics lead

Aylwyn Scally is a group leader the Department of Genetics at the University of Cambridge, using computational and mathematical methods with large-scale genome sequence data to investigate human and primate evolution and the causes of germline mutation. His extensive experience of collaborative and cross-disciplinary genomic research includes work on the first next-generation sequencing of a whole human genome, population-scale analyses in the 1000 Genomes Project, and the assembly and analysis of the gorilla genome. Dr Scally will be leading our Population Genomics community where large cohorts will be analysed to comprehend human genetic variation and what drives it.
