Dr Christine Patch

Chair of the Access Review Committee

Christine Patch originally trained as a nurse and then as a genetic counsellor. With over thirty five years’ experience of working in genetics providing clinical care, academic expertise and leadership of professional societies she has been involved in many of the developments in genomic healthcare, always trying to put patients at the heart of the scientific and technical developments.

After retiring in 2021 from her role as lead for genetic counselling and Caldicott Guardian at Genomics England she is now associated with Wellcome Connecting Science at the Genome Campus and the Kavli Centre for Ethics, Science, and the Public at Cambridge University.

She enjoys working collaboratively across disciplines and boundaries and believes that this is the best way to harness the excitement and power of genomics for the benefit of individuals and health care while contributing to the responsible use of the technology in line with the expectations of participants who allow their data to be accessed and used for research.

Christine joined ARC as Chair in November 2023.
