Overall job purpose

The Committee Manager will be the relationship lead and lead all business for the Participant Panel at Genomics England, ensuring their invaluable perspectives are integrated into our work. This is a vital role which involves fostering a strong partnership with Panel members.  The role holder will provide comprehensive support and project management of Participant Panel members' involvement in Genomics England activities, working closely with secretariats of other Genomics England committees to enhance their coordination.

Job Description

  • Build and maintain strong, trusting and effective relationships with the Participant Panel leadership and members, valuing and being sensitive to their lived experiences and the critical perspectives they bring to Genomics England's work ensuring that their voices are heard and respected.
  • Plan strategically for and organise quarterly Participant Panel meetings, working with the relevant Genomics England colleagues and the Participant Panel leadership to co-create agendas and to  meet robust standards for pre-reads, minute taking and action tracking.
  • Develop effective relationships with Genomics England colleagues to identify when and how the Participant Panel should be involved to ensure the Panel can meaningfully contribute the participant perspective to critical decisions about the approach Genomics England takes to fulfilling its role as custodian of participants’ data In the National Genomic Research library. 
  • Ensure clear, accessible and up to date communication of Participant Panel activities on the Genomics England website and on its intranet and support public transparency regarding the activity of Genomics England in relation to the Participant Panel.
  • Manage recruitment to Participant Panel member and leadership roles, working with Genomics England and Participant Panel members to ensure that recruitment processes are fair, equitable and inclusive. 
  • Ensure the effective governance of the Participant Panel, in line with wider Genomics England procedures, including keeping its Terms of Reference up to date and ensuring that relevant financial policies and processes are in place, maintained and followed.
  • Facilitate and champion the Participant Panel’s involvement in key Genomics England events and agreed external events.
  • Manage the forward planning for, and administration of, the Communications and Engagement Working Group, with the Communications Director.
  • Work closely with the wider Communications and Engagement team to provide effective administration support to the Participant Panel, including organising meeting venues, travel and accommodation and administering the Participant Panel inbox.
  • Know and understand the meaning behind our virtues and leadership behaviours and embody them in all aspects of the role.

Salary from: £44,500

Blended working model

Genomics England operates a blended working model as we know our people appreciate the flexibility that hybrid working can bring. We expect most people to come into the office a minimum of 2 times each month. However, this will vary according to role and will be agreed with your team leader. There is no expectation that people will return to the office full time unless they want to, however, some of our roles require full time on site attendance e.g., lab teams, reception team. 

Our teams and squads have, and will continue to reflect on what works best for them to work together successfully and have the freedom to design working patterns to suit, beyond the minimum. Our office locations are: Canary Wharf, Cambridge and Leeds.
